RACING RULES

 

  1. Any make or model of lawn tractor may be used.

  2. Racer must resemble a lawn tractor.

  3. Limit on engines, 9.5 horse power engine block.

  4. All racing engines must run on gasoline (no alcohol).

  5. Engine must be mounted in front of driver.

  6. All engines must have mufflers (no exceptions).

  7. Seat can be moved 6” forward or backwards from center of rear axle.

  8. Driver must set over any rear axel.

  9. Any type of frame (pipe, square, angle).

  10. All tractors must have full belt/chain guards. 

  11. Must have a second bar lower than 10 inches on rear bumper.

  12. All edges must be ground smooth.

  13. Each racer will be safety inspected.

  14. All nuts, bolts or fasteners must be checked by driver or crew regularly before each race.

  15. Maximum width of racer, no more than 37”.

  16. Maximum wheelbase of racer 44”, from center of front wheel bearing to center of rear axle.

  17. Strong rear bumper with a maximum of 1 1/2“ clearance between the tire and rear bumper.

  18. Rear bumper height must be 10” from the ground to the center of the bumper.  Bumper must be 4” or more in height.

  19. No high back seats, rear back protectors may be installed, no higher than 28” from ground, and should be mounted to rear bumper.

  20. No front bumpers or grill protectors.  Front edge of the hood must not extend past the center line of the front tires.

  21. All racers must have a bearing on right front, bearing on left front optional.

  22. Side guards between front and rear wheels are required.  Clearance between guards and tires must be about 1 1/2” to prevent any tire getting between tire and guard. Side guards must be a minimum of 7” tall to prevent wheels from entering driver foot area.

  23. Some type of flomuoring must be used to prevent drivers’ feet from getting under tractor. Must be about the same width/length of side guards.

  24. Some type of gas pedal, brake pedal and clutch must be used.

  25. Brakes must be a disk type system and approved by stopping standards of the officials.

  26. Tires must say 11 inches tall on the sidewall min. on front

  27. Tubes may be installed in tires.

  28. Bushings may be replaced with bearings.

  29. A tether switch must be used and tested before racing.

  30. Each driver must wear a neck brace.

  31. Pulleys, belts, and chains can be used.

  32. Weight can be added if needed but must be securely fastened.

  33. An approved racing helmet and eye protection must be worn while driving on the racing surface.

  34. All racers must have large numbers on both sides.

  35. All new members, drivers, officials, and participants must fill out a release form before tractor enters the racetrack for the first time every race.

  36. To qualify as a driver, you must be 18 years or older.  You will be tested on skill and reflexes for our type of racing.  You must be certified by officers or safety officials.

  37. Driver fee for each race day is $10.00.

  38. A drivers’ meeting will be held before each race date.

  39.  Race format:   

    • Dash 20 laps 4 fastest qualifiers. Part of draw.

    • 1st heat 20 laps half of the field.

    • 2nd heat 20 laps half of the field.

    • 3rd heat 20 laps all racers single file.

    • Draw race 20 laps all racers draw for position.

    • Semi-feature 30 laps all racers draw backwards.

    • Feature 50.

  40. Must start in line until green flag.

  41. All points are credited to the driver.

  42. Point Format:      

    • Dash, 10 points to win, one point decrements.

    • Heats, 10 points to win, one point decrements.

    • Draw, 20 points to win, one point decrements.

    • Semi feature, 30 points to win, two point decrements.

    • Feature, 50 or 70 points to win, five point decrements.

  43. The least amount of points a driver will get if they start the semi feature is two points, feature five points. 

  44. If there is a tie in points, the outcome will be determined by previous wins of the drivers in the current season.

  45.  A driver is allowed to run a loaner racer.  They must start at the rear of all races, including championships. 

  46. Red Flag Stops:  The one or two racers causing the race to stop will go to the back of the line, ahead of lapped racers.  Position will be determined by going back one lap. Tap rule is encouraged.

  47. After a red flag stop, all lapped drivers must try to get off race track and raise hand to notify other drivers.

  48. All drivers that have been lapped many times must give lead drivers room to run safely.

  49. If a racer has a mechanical breakdown during a race, they should go to the center of the track and stay on the machine.  The race should be stopped to get the racer out safely.

  50. Drivers cannot go through center track to advance their position.

  51. Middle of the track racing is not allowed, use inside lane or outside lane.

  52. If the racer’s left side wheels come off the track continuously you will be black flagged.

  53. No pushing, bumping, or reckless driving will be allowed.

  54. No one is to drive a racer from the track/pit area at a high rate of speed for any reason. 

  55. Alcohol abuse will not be tolerated.  Drivers are not allowed to drink alcohol until they are done racing for that day.

  56. Any disorderly conduct, you will be asked to leave.

  57. Anyone not following the safety rules, by-laws, or policies will be asked to leave.

  58. Any loud arguing will not be allowed.

  59. Track Official:  any member taking part in any race activity other than driving. Flagman, flagman asst., line up man, or helper.  Track official decisions are final.

  60. These safety rules are intended for the safety and wellbeing of all of our drivers and spectators.  They will be enforced and all final decisions will be made by the flagman. 

 

OPEN CLASS RULES

 

  1. Engine must be in front of driver and must be a 4 stroke

    • Engine serial number must come up in small engine parts books​

  2. All engines must have mufflers (no exceptions).

  3. Chassis width 40 inches including tires

    • Any length​

  4. Any chassis is allowed

  5. Tires must say 11 inches tall on the sidewall min. on front

  6. Must have a tether

  7. Each driver must wear a neck brace.

  8. Must have a rear bumper

    • Height of 10 inches to center and must be the same width of tractor​

  9. Must have a second bar lower than 10 inches on rear bumper.

  10. Front bumper is allowed

    • Only 13 inches in width and a minimum height of 10 inches

  11. Must have a lawn tractor hood

  12. No Alky

  13. 7 inches tall side boards
